January was NACHMO (National Choreography Month), and what better way to get a choreographic boost to the new year than to create a dance from scratch in less than 30 days and perform it in a sold out show?

My piece, “Starting From Scratch”, is a play on the literary expression of starting from scratch - to start over, to begin with no prior preparation, and to create something completely new, rather than adding to something that already exists. I had a lot of fun taking this idiom literally, physicalizing it to become a fun conversation between me and musings, and then ultimately crafting this duet for myself and Andrea in culmination of this experience.
